Ive always wanted to jump on a bandwagon. I’ve also always wanted a straight 6, and obviously the 2jz is up there. My question for Oppo is, is300 or gs300? I found one sport cross near me, high miles for 5 grand, but I found multiple gs300's for around 3-4 grand with lower miles. As much as I love wagons, I think a bigger comfier car might fit me better at this stage of my life, so what does Oppo t hink? I haven’t driven either yet, hopefully this week but can’t purchase for a couple weeks. So is the GS a pig? What would Oppo do?

GS300s seem to have been kept in better shape than IS300s. Neither the GS300 nor an automatic IS300 are fast cars (0-60 in the mid-7s IIRC) so you might as well get the comfy GS and enjoy the ride.

Toyota Aristo V300 Vertex is your answer. Thank me later.

By virtue of being smaller and lighter, the 2JZ makes the IS feel sporty. It’s also available with a stick on sedans 02-05. In the bigger GS, the 2JZ makes for a smooth cruiser that still has highway speed oomph when you need it, though I wouldn’t call it sporty.
I would go with the GS based on your description. It’ll be more comfortable and also less likely to have been driven hard and roughed up. Further, while I find the backseat of the IS adequate, many do not. So if you’ve got kids -- and /or friends that like extra sauce on their burgers -- it could make for a tight expericence.

No but seriously the GS is probably the better option.

Yeah I don't have friends but given the price premium for the IS and the fact they're usually modified I think I'll take a GS. And here in Chicago land we don't have fun roads anyways.

Yeah I do actually have one on my list that I’ve been talking to the dealer about, but reliability would be a concern and that was before I realized how cheap the GS is these days, I found at least five under 5 grand all under 200k miles, 3-4 grand for around 150k miles seems to be about average, dunno if I can pass that up

Ive always liked the looks of that GS. I had a few Jada Toys Import Tuner models of them but I think my nephew inherited them.

I don’t love it aesthetically actually, although it is growing on me, I’m just not a fan of blobby headlights and taillights. I think the IS is much better looking especially as a wagon. But I think it could live with it, it has clean lines just don’t love the disj ointed lights.
